Looking to BUY THE BOOK and haven't seen it on the shelves? Well, you can find it very soon. The book has been shipped from the distributor's warehouses to the retailer warehouses and should be hitting the shelves in the next few days.

Look for us in the Travel Section, if you can't find it tell them to order you a copy. You can also purchase online. A few of the online retailers had our release date wrong earlier this week, the book will be out in the next few days not in two months.

Where will all the Cowboys go?
10/27/05, 7:07 AM
With the closure of the New Frontier, we will have to say goodbye to the only true Country & Western bar on the Strip, Gilley's. New Frontier shuts its doors in early spring.

The only place I can think that all the cowboys will go is Toby Kieth's I Love This Bar & Grill. The question is: Will it be able to handle the true cowboy crowd? While Gilley's is a sawdust on the floor, line dancing, budwieser and Jack Daniel's type of place, Toby's Keith place is more of a ______ (fill in the blank with "Hard Rock Cafe", "Planet Hollywood", "Nascar Cafe", or "Harley Davidson Cafe") type of theme resturant. I personally think it will just turn the true cowboys off. Plus it might just be too small.

A sleeper to take over the Cowboy crowd is Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. A large dance floor and a relaxed theme, Margaritaville could put some occasional "Electric Slide" music on and easily fill the place.

We will have to wait and see what happens.....

Burbon Street - Closes Early
10/20/05, 3:43 PM
I am very upset. Harrah's closed the Burbon Street Casino two weeks before the scheduled closure date of Oct 31.

It is not that I like Burbon Street, I mean their show room was so cheaply made that is was made out of pipe and drape in the middle of the casino. There were no walls to it.

The point is that I always go to every casino closing. There is something special in the air when a casino closes, the most unusual people show up for it. It is a full moon, but only inside the casino. Plus, they give out free drinks, just to get rid of the inventory (the beer might be stale because it is Natural Light that they bought eight years ago, but hey, it is free.)

I guess I have to wait until Jan 9 when the Boardwalk closes.

I Kinda Like this Bar
10/14/05, 4:45 AM
Went to Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill at Harrah's this weekend. I'm a fan, so I was a little disappointed to discover that they don't serve beer in mason jars.

Any Toby loyalist knows that he says "we like to drink our beer from mason jars" in his hit "I Love this Bar." Well, I had to special request that a bottled beer be poured into a mason jar to enjoy.

If you're looking for a place to enjoy a drink, it's worth a stop. Not the easiest place to find, you need to go in the front of Harrah's upstairs and head back towards the monorail.

LVLBB Finds Friendly Skies
10/5/05, 5:59 AM
Pretty much every time you fly, the airline gives at least one plug for its award winning magazine. This is usually followed up with a statement like "feel free to take a copy home." Well, if you're flying on Southwest this month, take them up on the offer. We haven't gotten a chance to see it yet, but there's a piece about the LVLBB in this month's issue.

So, if you're flying to Vegas this month, look for us in your seatback pocket.

The Ho No Mo
10/1/05, 12:49 AM
The Westward Ho is set to close its doors on November, 17. Fans of the cheap side of Vegas, who have been signing the Ho's praises for years, will have to find another place to get good, cheap, massive hot dogs.

It will be sad to see yet another sign of the old Strip bite the dust. Their cheap dogs and cheap prices on good beer made watching the cheap lounge acts somewhat tolerable. Just because I'd never stay there, doesn't mean that The Westward Ho didn't have its own unique charm.
